Another Ifugao inspired character with a twist, a Bul-ul is an Ifugao anthropomorphic carving that symbolizes an Ifugao rice god or guardian spirits. They are believed to safekeep the harvest in rice granaries from thieves, pests and evil spirits of the mountains. They control a brute called "Kalatao", a huge Carabao like creature that doesn't stop until a threat is terminated.
Huge shout out to ICON Manila 2017 for igniting inspiration to artists, students and professionals alike. I really learned a lot from the amazing batch of speakers this year; Even Mehl Amundsen, Goro Fujita, Jana Schrimer, Tony Bancroft and of course, Mr. Armand Serrano. I can't express how happy I am to talk to these amazing people.
