The batok (hand-tapped tattoo) of the Kalinga tribe were believed to give warriors spiritual and magical abilities which in turn, provided a powerful psychological edge in combat.
Batoks were earned by the bravest men who protect their people from rival tribes through headhunting. The men were not honored with jewels, but rather with elaborately designed batoks. On the other hand, women wore tattoos to make themselves appear more attractive while finding their lover. This was the norm since ancient time until one day, a woman witnessed two suspicious threats roaming around the forest. Skilled with combat, she defeated and took their heads, not knowing that these beings were part Enkanto. After the battle, she obtained a peculiar type of batuk that glows and protects her from harm. The famous "Batok Armor" which was originally a myth and a campfire story, was realized.
